Learning Outcomes 

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Have enhanced comfort and confidence in using MS Excel to manipulate and present HR/People data
  • Understand and apply intermediate sorting and filtering techniques
  • Be able to use PivotTables to sort and manipulate data
  • Be able to develop and annotate various graphs and charts available in Excel
  • Be able to utilise the VLOOKUP, INDEX & MATCH functions to return values from another worksheet
  • Be able to use conditional statements to group data
  • Be able to develop drop down lists within cells and apply other data validation criteria to cells
  • Be able to apply conditional formatting to cells and ranges
  • Be able to produce and utilise basic Pivot

Meet the instructor

Nick Kennedy

Nick has over 20 years of experience, including strategic and operational workforce planning, project and program management, change leadership and global talent management. This is complimented by a strong aptitude for continuous improvement, supported by experience across sectors including, government, mining and resources, automotive, consulting and minerals processing.

Having managed strategic workforce planning and organisational design teams for large global organisations and overseen major change and optimization programs, Nick has a deep understanding of the complex challenges faced by many organisations.
He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and is passionate about connecting strategy, planning and people.

Nick is a certified practising strategic workforce planner - CP-SWP (founding member) and is widely regarded as one of the world’s most preeminent experts in Strategic Workforce Planning having delivered 100+ public and private workforce analytics and planning training programs.

Meet the instructor

Kath Hume

Kath is a highly regarded consultant with over 20 years’ experience across Health, Education, Finance, FMCG, Pharmaceuticals and the Not-for-Profit sector. She specialises in strategic workforce planning and capability development, helping organisations align workforce decisions to organisational priorities.

She supported strategic workforce planning for NSW Health from 2019 to 2024 and has since worked across Commonwealth, State and Local Government, applying structured, evidence-based approaches to identify future workforce needs.

Kath holds a Master of Adult Education, Graduate Diploma in Education and Bachelor of Commerce. She is a skilled facilitator who uses human-centred design to engage stakeholders and co-design practical solutions to complex workforce challenges.
She is also the host of the Reimagined Workforce podcast and author of Learn Solve Thrive, sharing practical insights to support workforce capability and transformation.
